Our client Limited is a family-owned company located in West Bromwich, West Midlands. We are specialists in organo-sulphur synthesis and high-pressure hydrogenation supplying organic chemistry services to a global market in quantities from grams to multi-tonnes. We manufacture intermediates for the Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical and Speciality Chemical industries as well as many others and our team of chemists are experts in custom synthesis, contract manufacture and process optimisation.
We have a vacancy for a REACH & Regulatory Compliance Manager, to plan, manage and sustain the REACH and Regulatory activities for the site’s ongoing compliance to European/UK Standards, Global Regulations and Business needs.
Reporting to the Head of SHE the main duties will be:
- REACH management – carry out registration of chemicals including use of IUCLID, Chesar and QSAR tools for dossier submissions
- Liaise with regulators, customers, suppliers, Test Houses and authorities
- Liaise with the Only Representative (OR) on EU registration matters, and ensure relevant data is provided to the OR to maintain EU registrations.
- Preparation of extended safety datasheets including advising 3rd parties on development of datasheets to be compliant with REACH requirements
- Advise on regulatory programmes such as China REACH, CLP notification and application approvals
- Advise on the most cost-effective way to approach REACH registration and associated activities
- Prepare registration documentation for new company products or increasing tonnage requirements.
- Provide advice on REACH and regulatory matters to all levels within the company
- Preparation of transport and legal documentation for site chemicals
- Represent the Company at Industry Body level, such as the CIA Chemical Manufacturers group, Sustainability group, Carbon Net Zero group and CEFIC API advisory group
Skills required:
Degree in Chemistry or Biology/Toxicology (or another closely related subject).
Experience desirable in the following:
- devising and managing a REACH compliant system.
- Product Stewardship, toxicology, ecotoxicology and data sheet compilation.
- analytical research/development.
- Experience in safety datasheet compilation software such as Lycos or Lisam.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of compliance systems would be beneficial – such as GHS/CLP, transport regulations and Food Contact and other international approvals.
- Excellent IT literacy.
