Hydrogen Fuel Systems Vent Lead Engineer

Your Accountabilities:
Supporting a multi-system architecture definition of aircraft concepts with specific focus on the tank venting function
Leading hydrogen (H2) supplier equipment design, development, test, integration and qualification
Leading tank venting system level architecture trade studies and system sizing
Developing excellent component level knowledge across ATA28 fluid mechanical fuel systems focusing on the tank venting system and the interfaces with other ATA’s, in particular thermal management and fire prevention systems
Driving the associated necessary fuel system technology development and ensuring that appropriate demonstration means are in place, either at the equipment supplier’s or our own test facilities, to secure maturity of the necessary technological concepts
Driving the selection of technological trades and equipment suppliers while ensuring safety, certification and product value generation
Developing the necessary competences and skills of a future hydrogen specialist, to secure Airbus competence readiness
Engaging with key stakeholders both internally and externally, working with our growing H2 fuel systems team and developing key relationships with partners and suppliers to drive the businesses ambition
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership of a team of engineers to deliver the design solutions for the H2 Tank Venting system
Produce development and V&V plans for the H2 Tank Venting system
Technically lead tank venting system level design activities including trade studies and system sizing
Technically lead the research, design, integration and certification of ATA28 H2 fuel components
Lead supplier management activities, including design studies and supplier design reviews of H2 components and present credible solutions and recommendations to stakeholders to achieve agreed and validated system designs
Work with our test teams to identify and prepare validation and verification activities to demonstrate compliance with system requirements
Provide technical contribution to equipment supply chain multi-function teams
Maintain and contribute to the latest knowledge of standards and regulations relating to the safe and environmentally correct use of H2
Skills & Experience:
Educated to degree level in Engineering or a related discipline
Aerospace system level knowledge and experience
Knowledge and experience of hydrogen fuel systems and equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc) with a particular focus on liquid cryogenic hydrogen, would be a bonus
Experience in a Research & Technology (R&T) context, including capability to drive innovation
Understanding of aviation challenges and certification process
Project management and leadership experience would be a plus
