The successful Project Manager will be fully accountable to the Head of Projects and for managing all aspects of each project order from receipt of customer order through to shipment of goods and deliverable documentation in order to fully satisfy our customer requirements for specific major projects.

This role may also suit graduates in Mechanical Engineering, who are interested in starting a career in technical project management.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Engineer:

  • Ensure all project specifications are clearly understood and any technical clarifications and deviations are formally agreed and closed out with the client.
  • Ensure front end documentation is submitted and approved in the agreed time frame.
  • Produce and manage milestone timing plans throughout each project
  • Provide professional and regular updates to the client on all aspects of each project
  • Ensure the technical and delivery requirements of the client are clearly understood
  • Ensure each department understands the requirements of the order
  • Continually review all milestones on the project and take action where dates are projecting late
  • Provide and update production schedules as set by the project Purchase Order
  • Organise logistics/transport throughout the project
  • Expedite all activities (including suppliers) to ensure the project stays on track
  • Participate in Customer visits and meetings to keep them up-to-date on progress
  • Ensure all documents reflect the requirements of the project
  • Manage all project costs within the allocated budgets

Skills Experience:

  • A professional qualification (CIPS/PRINCE) or relevant experience desirable.
  • Experience of a component manufacturing environment
  • Good communication, negotiation, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Thorough understanding of MRP principles and practice.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office standard business tools and ERP software
  • Skilled in the reading and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Ability to learn new skills and procedures, and work to deadlines and tight timescales
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently
  • Customer focused and committed to continuous improvement.
