ROLE SUMMARY:
The welding & fabrication in relation to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of
railway vehicles and associated equipment in accordance with applicable standards,
procedures, specifications and instructions.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technician-Welder
 Read and accurately interpret drawings, technical specifications and work
instructions.
 Competent multi-disciplined welder MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA.
 Ability and experience in the welding of mild steel & stainless steel,
 Experienced in gas and plasma cutting.
 Fully understand the set up and maintenance required to welding machinery
and plant.
 Competent in fabrication to meet business demands.
 Ability to operate various items of workshop machinery such as guillotine,
band saws, press brakes, drills etc.
 Safe and efficient in the operation of hand tooling such as angle grinders, drills
& air tools.
 Maintain up to date weld test bar qualifications.
 Clear understanding of visual weld requirements and standards.
 Work in accordance with company systems and procedures.
 Work in accordance with applicable targets
 Comply with all safety, quality and environmental systems and responsibilities,
including OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.
 Ensure good housekeeping (cleanliness and tidiness of working environment).
 Demonstrate a pro-active approach to Continuous Improvements initiatives.
 Undertake maintenance, repair and overhaul work at remote locations.
 Participate in competency assessment programs as required.

 Recording full, complete and accurate details of work performed.
Strategic and Functional Processes
 Achieve required levels of productivity, quality and delivery.
 Work at remote locations as required.
 Provide on-call support as required.

POSITION IMPACT:
Undertake production, repair, overhaul, fabrication and manufacturing activity on rail
vehicles and products.
