ROLE SUMMARY:
The welding & fabrication in relation to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of
railway vehicles and associated equipment in accordance with applicable standards,
procedures, specifications and instructions.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Technician-Welder
Read and accurately interpret drawings, technical specifications and work
instructions.
Competent multi-disciplined welder MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA.
Ability and experience in the welding of mild steel & stainless steel,
Experienced in gas and plasma cutting.
Fully understand the set up and maintenance required to welding machinery
and plant.
Competent in fabrication to meet business demands.
Ability to operate various items of workshop machinery such as guillotine,
band saws, press brakes, drills etc.
Safe and efficient in the operation of hand tooling such as angle grinders, drills
& air tools.
Maintain up to date weld test bar qualifications.
Clear understanding of visual weld requirements and standards.
Work in accordance with company systems and procedures.
Work in accordance with applicable targets
Comply with all safety, quality and environmental systems and responsibilities,
including OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.
Ensure good housekeeping (cleanliness and tidiness of working environment).
Demonstrate a pro-active approach to Continuous Improvements initiatives.
Undertake maintenance, repair and overhaul work at remote locations.
Participate in competency assessment programs as required.
Reporting and Analysis
Recording full, complete and accurate details of work performed.
Strategic and Functional Processes
Achieve required levels of productivity, quality and delivery.
Work at remote locations as required.
Provide on-call support as required.
